Shoe Guide - Brown

Today's post is the first in a series dedicated to details about the many styles and colors of shoes in Strawberryland.  I thought that brown is a good place to start since that was the style and color that started it all back in 1979.

First off, here's some general information about the shoes as they have evolved over the years.  The Kenner shoes tend to be "squishy" as the plastic is more pliable.  The same goes with the THQ era shoes.  After the THQ era, the shoes are hard and do not bend.  They also have a strawberry insignia on the bottom of one shoe (one shoe has it, the other does not) to help distinguish them from the vintage shoes.

A) Strawberry Shortcake's shoes from the vintage era.  Note the band of hearts across the toe.

B) Huckleberry Pie's shoes from the vintage era.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but they have 3 lines (dashed, solid, dashed) that run from the laces, across the toe, to the bottom of the shoe.  They are slightly smaller than Strawberry's shoes.

C) Strawberry's shoes from the 2010 Anniversary 3-Pack.  They are a slightly off shade of brown compared to the others.

D) Strawberry's shoes from the 2009 Hasbro doll.

E) Strawberry's and Huckleberry's shoes from the Bridge Direct classic dolls.  These were included with the Strawberry doll from the standalone release, Toys R Us 3-pack, and Strawberry / Huckleberry 2-pack. Styles D and E are identical except E has the letters "TBD" on the inside sole.

F) Strawberry's alternate, vintage style shoes from the "Berry Best Party" THQ doll.

G) Strawberry's shoes from the "Berry Beauty Shop" THQ doll.

Shoe Guide - Pink

Pink is, by far, the most popular color for shoes in Strawberryland!  To make it more challenging, there are several shades of pink for the same style shoe in both the vintage and modern eras. There are so many pink colored shoes that I've split them into vintage and modern photos. A) Raspberry Tart's shoes from the vintage era.  Their original color is a pale pink, but they often fade to a really pale, almost white, color. B) Lime Chiffon's shoes from the vintage era. C) Cafe Ole's shoes from the vintage era. D) Dancin' Strawberry Shortcake's shoes from the vintage era. E) Strawberry's Party Pleaser and Berrykin shoes.  This shoe is one of the very few, if not the only, that was used for more than one doll in the same style / color combination. F) From the Berry Pretty Berry Wear set from the vintage era.  This shoe originally came with the set and was replaced by style G. G) From the Berry Pretty Berry Wear set from the vintage era. ...

Shoe Guide - Purple

It has been my experience that the purple shoes have a tendency to discolor more than the other colored shoes.  This can make it difficult to identify some of them online because it's hard to tell if the lighting in the picture is off or if the shoes themselves have discolored. A) Angel Cake's shoes from the vintage era. B) From the Berry Quaint Berry Wear set from the vintage era. C) Almond Tea's shoes from the vintage era. D) Almond's Party Pleaser shoes from the vintage era. E)  Raspberry Tart's alternate, vintage style shoes from the "Rock N Berry Roll" THQ doll. F) Lime Chiffon's shoes from the "Dance N Berry-cise" THQ doll. G) Plum Puddin's Berrykin shoes from the vintage era. H) Angel Cake's from the Bridge Direct classic dolls.  The have the letters "TBD" on the inside sole. Here is a comparison picture of the purple shoes for Almond Tea and Plum Puddin. Tights & Socks

Let's talk about tights.  One of the main identifiers of Strawberry Shortcake and her friends is those bright and cheerful green and white striped tights. The tights have changed over the years as manufacturers have changed.  Below is a comparison picture of the trademark green and white tights. A) Vintage era tights. B) THQ era tights.  I'm not sure if these were ever the same shade of green as the others.  All of the green stripes whether they are on tights, bows, socks, etc are this same shade of yellow-y green.  A note about these tights: I have yet to get them on a doll.  The one time I did, they split at the seams and were about 1/4 inch too short in the stride. C) Hasbro tights worn by the 2010 Anniversary 3-pack.  The stripes are much narrower than the others.  They are almost as narrow as the tights from the vintage Brazilian dolls. D) Bridge Direct tights.  The stripes are wider than the others.  These tights are a...
